What is a ready-made first message in a WhatsApp link?

When someone taps a WhatsApp button, the app opens a chat with your number. If the link includes a prepared text, that text appears in the message box. The person can edit it or just send it.

This helps both sides. The visitor does not stare at an empty box wondering what to write. You receive a message that already says where they came from and what they want, which saves the first two or three questions.

How do you set the message in WhatsClicks?

When you create a link in the WhatsClicks panel, you enter your WhatsApp number and a starting message. That message is used every time the link is opened. You can change it later by editing the link in Links, and every button using that link updates without touching your site.

If you want a different message for one specific button, add it at the end of the address with &t=. For example, &t=Hi, I saw the pricing page replaces the starting message only for that button. Below each link in the panel there is an address generator that builds this for you, so you do not need to type the symbols by hand.

  1. Open Links in your WhatsClicks panel and create or edit a link.
  2. Type the number and the starting message you want.
  3. Use the address generator below the link if you need a different message, page or button name.
  4. Copy the final address and paste it into the button on your site.

Write the message in the same language as the page. A visitor on a page in English who receives a prepared message in another language will probably delete it.

Examples for stores

For online and local stores, the prepared text should mention what the person was looking at. Use the page and button tags too, so you can see later which page generated the chat.

  • Hi! I have a question about an item on your website.
  • Hello, can you tell me if this product is in stock?
  • Hi, I would like to know the delivery time to my city.
  • Hello! I want to place an order, can you help me?
  • Hi, I need help choosing between two options.

Examples for services

Service buyers often hesitate because they do not know what details to give. A good starting message nudges them in the right direction without sounding like a form.

  • Hi, I would like a quote. My name is... and I need help with...
  • Hello! Do you have an available time this week?
  • Hi, I found you on your website and would like to know how it works.
  • Hello, I want to book a first appointment.
  • Hi, can you tell me what you need from me to start?

Ending with an ellipsis invites the person to complete the sentence. It often produces more useful first messages than a finished sentence.

Different messages for ads, bio and email

The same number can serve different channels, and the starting text can tell you which one brought the person. Create one link per channel or use the &t= option to change the greeting.

For a campaign you could use "Hi, I came from the May offer". For a social bio, "Hi, I saw your profile". For an email signature, "Hello, I received your email". Combine this with &src= so the panel also shows the source in Por botão, even when the person edits the text.

  • Ad: Hi, I saw your ad and have a question.
  • Social bio: Hi, I found you on your profile.
  • Email signature: Hello, I am replying to your email.

Mistakes to avoid

Remember that the WhatsClicks counter records the click on the button, not whether the person actually pressed send. Use the prepared message to make sending easy, then compare clicks with the real chats you receive in WhatsApp. For example, 200 clicks and 20 chats is a 10 percent ratio in your own example, and the exact number will be yours to discover.

  • Making the message too long. Two short sentences are enough.
  • Putting private promises in it, such as a discount you have not confirmed.
  • Forgetting that the visitor can edit or delete the text before sending.
  • Using the same message for every page, which loses context.
  • Not testing the link on your own phone before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, a WhatsApp link can carry a prepared text. With WhatsClicks you set it when you create the link and can override it with the t option at the end of the address.

Does the visitor have to send the prepared message?

No. The text appears in the message box and the person can edit it or delete it before sending.

Can I change the message later without editing my site?

Yes. Edit the link in Links and every button using that link will open the new message.

How do I know which message works best?

Create one link per version, or tag buttons with src, and compare clicks in the Resumo tab using the comparison of two links.
