Get more clicks

How many WhatsApp buttons should a page have?

There is no magic number, but there is a sensible answer to how many WhatsApp buttons a page should have: enough that the visitor never has to hunt for one, and few enough that the page does not look desperate.

Is one button enough?

On a short page, yes. If the whole page fits in two or three screens on a phone, one clear button near the top or after the main offer is usually enough. A second one at the end can help people who read everything and then decide.

The mistake is the opposite extreme: ten identical green buttons that make the page feel like a sales pitch and make it impossible to learn what works. More buttons are not automatically more clicks.

A good habit is to ask what the visitor needs at each moment of the page. At the top they need to understand what you offer. In the middle they need proof. At the end they need a next step. A button that matches the moment feels helpful, while a button that interrupts feels pushy.

A simple rule by page type

Think about how long the page is and how much the visitor needs to read before deciding. A rough starting guide:

  • Short landing page: one button high on the page and one at the end.
  • Long sales page: a button after each major block of persuasion, usually three or four in total.
  • Product page: one near the price or add button and a floating one for questions.
  • Blog post: one inside the article, where it fits naturally, and one at the end.
  • Contact page: one prominent button, not five different ways to ask the same thing.

These are starting points, not laws. Your own click data should replace them as soon as you have it.

How do you know which button gets clicks?

If every button uses the same plain link, you will only see the total. To learn more, tag each button. In your WhatsClicks panel, open Links and use the address generator under the link. Add the page with ?p=/pricing and a name for the button with &src=top, &src=middle or &src=end.

Then paste the generated address into each button. After a week or two, open the Resumo tab and look at Por botão and Por página. You will see which positions earn clicks and which are ignored.

  1. List the buttons on your page and give each a short name.
  2. Generate one address per button with the right src.
  3. Replace the old addresses on your site.
  4. Wait for enough clicks and compare in Por botão.

What to do with buttons nobody clicks

A button with very few clicks is not necessarily a failure. A button at the end of a long page may get fewer clicks simply because fewer people reach it. Compare it with how many people typically scroll that far, if you have that information from another tool.

Still, if a button after a long block earns almost nothing for a month, consider removing it or changing its text. Fewer buttons that each have a clear purpose beat a crowd of buttons that blur together.

Do not forget the phone. On a small screen, three buttons that look fine on a computer may take half the space. Scroll the page on your phone and count how often a button appears in view. If one is always on screen, you may not need the others.

  • Change the text before you remove the button.
  • Try moving it next to a stronger paragraph.
  • Remove it if it adds clutter and earns almost no clicks.

Should every button use the same message?

Not necessarily. A button next to the price can open with "Hi, I have a question about the price". A button after the testimonials can open with "Hi, I would like to know more". Add the message at the end of the address with &t=, or edit the starting message in Links if the same text works everywhere.

This also helps you when you answer. The first message already tells you which part of the page convinced the visitor.

If you use the same message everywhere, keep it simple and general. If you use different messages, keep a short list of them with the page they belong to, so you do not forget which text you promised where.

A quick example of an experiment

Imagine a services page with three buttons: top, middle and end. For two weeks you count 90 clicks. Por botão shows 50 for top, 35 for middle and 5 for end. This is a made-up example, but it suggests the end button adds little and the middle one deserves a better position. Your own numbers will differ.

Remember what the counter does and does not do. It counts clicks on the button, not finished conversations or sales. It cannot show who clicked. Use it to decide where buttons help, and use your WhatsApp chats to confirm that those clicks become real conversations.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put too many WhatsApp buttons on one page?

Yes. Too many identical buttons make the page feel pushy and make it hard to learn which one works. Start with one to three and add more only if the page is long.

Should a floating button and an inline button coexist?

They can. Tag them with different src names and compare their clicks in Por botão.

How do I tell the buttons apart in the counter?

Add src to each address, for example src=top, and read the table Por botão in the Resumo tab.

Does the number of buttons change my plan limits?

Not by itself. Several buttons can use the same link. Limits depend on the number of links on your account.
