WhatsApp button on a landing page: Elementor and other builders

A landing page has a single goal, and often that goal is getting people to message you on WhatsApp. This guide shows how to add a WhatsApp button to a landing page built with Elementor or other builders, and how to find out which button on the page works best.

Why is a WhatsApp button so common on a landing page?

A landing page is a page built for one specific action: asking for a quote, booking a call, getting answers about an offer. For many businesses, the shortest path is WhatsApp, because people already use the app every day.

Instead of a long form, a button takes the visitor straight to the chat, with a starting message already written. It is easy for the visitor and quick for you to answer.

This format works well with paid campaigns and social media promotion, because the person arrives, reads a short pitch and decides. The fewer steps between reading and messaging you on WhatsApp, the better.

How do I add a WhatsApp button to a landing page in Elementor?

Elementor is a visual builder widely used on WordPress sites. It has a button element that accepts a link. Option names can vary depending on the version and the theme, so use the steps as a general guide.

  1. Create your free WhatsClicks account, save your number and starting message and copy the link, which looks like https://whatsclicks.com/w/code.
  2. Open the landing page in the Elementor editor.
  3. Drag a button element into the section you want.
  4. Type the text, for example: I want to chat on WhatsApp.
  5. In the element panel, look for the link field and paste the WhatsClicks address.
  6. If there is an option to open in a new tab, turn it on.
  7. Update the page and test it on your phone.

What about other landing page builders?

Drag-and-drop page builders follow the same idea. You add a button, open its options and paste an address into the link field. Some call that field URL, others call it destination or button action. What matters is finding where the address field is.

If the builder offers a ready-made WhatsApp button that only asks for a phone number, it will build a wa.me link by itself. To count clicks, prefer a regular button with a free link field.

In every case, test the published page and not just the preview. In some builders, the button only works with the final link after the page is published or updated.

Another tip is to keep the button text clear and specific. Instead of just Send, prefer something like Get a quote on WhatsApp. The person already knows what happens when they tap.

Do you have a plain HTML landing page? Just replace the address inside the button link with the WhatsClicks one.

The address before and after

If your landing page already has a button pointing to wa.me, swap the address for the WhatsClicks link. The button stays the same, but now every click is recorded:

  • Before: https://wa.me/15551234567?text=I%20want%20to%20know%20more
  • After: https://whatsclicks.com/w/abc123

Number and code are examples. The starting message is now edited in the dashboard, without opening the builder.

How do I know which button on the landing page works best?

Landing pages usually have several identical buttons: one at the top, one in the middle and one at the end. They all lead to the same place, but not all of them get the same attention. To find out which one is best, tag each one with &src= and the page with ?p=.

Example for a promotion landing page:

  • Top button: https://whatsclicks.com/w/abc123?p=/promo&src=top
  • Middle button: https://whatsclicks.com/w/abc123?p=/promo&src=middle
  • Bottom button: https://whatsclicks.com/w/abc123?p=/promo&src=bottom

How to use the numbers to improve the page

After a few days, look at the By button table in the dashboard. Imagine, just as an example, that the bottom button got many more clicks than the top one. That suggests people read the whole page before deciding, and maybe it is worth strengthening the text there.

If it is the other way around and the top button wins by a mile, maybe your audience arrives already decided and wants to talk right away. Also use the dashboard to see the best hours and the most used device: if almost all clicks come from phones, take care of the mobile version of the page first.

Remember that the counter measures clicks, not sales. It shows the interest in talking to you, and the rest depends on your service. If you promote the landing page with ads, each campaign can have its own tag, so you can compare where the traffic comes from.

Do not forget to review the starting message. It is saved in the dashboard and shows up written in the chat when the person arrives. A short sentence that mentions the offer helps you know which page they came from, even before looking at the numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the same WhatsClicks link on several buttons on the same landing page?

Yes. To separate the clicks, add &src= with a different name on each button, such as top, middle and bottom.

Does the Elementor WhatsApp button count clicks?

A button that only opens wa.me does not count. If you put the WhatsClicks link in the button link field, the clicks are recorded in the dashboard.

Do I need to install a plugin for this?

No. A regular button with a link field is enough. Option names can vary depending on the builder version.
